Happy New Year Filled with Discoveries!

I hope your year has started on a positive note and that you’re feeling motivated to continue exploring your family history. Or perhaps you’re just starting out and have finally decided to create your family tree?

What are your current questions and challenges in researching family history? What piques your interest? What holds you back? Where could you use some help?

Here are a few questions to inspire you:

  • What have you decided to accomplish in your family history research this year? Perhaps writing a family book, visiting distant relatives, or traveling to ancestral homes?

  • Are there specific documents that are causing you difficulties? For instance, records in German or Russian, revision lists, or land records?

  • Do you feel stuck because you don’t know where to look next or lack the necessary documents?

  • What technical tools would you like to learn to enhance your research?

  • Do you struggle with compiling and organizing your discoveries?

  • What kind of assistance would you like to receive?Would it be technical support, new tools, community support, or additional knowledge about archives?

  • What has held you back from exploring family history so far? Is it a lack of time, access to documents, or language barriers?

  • Would you like to learn how to tell your family’s story in an engaging way?For example, by writing a family history book or creating digital stories?

  • Do you have questions about specific archives or platforms, such as Raduraksti, Ciltksoki, or the Historical Archive?

  • Are there particular aspects of your ancestors' lives that interest you?For example, military service, farm buyouts, or other historical themes?

Any other questions, comments, or suggestions from you will be very helpful, and I thank you in advance for them. While I can’t promise to answer every question, your suggestions will serve as my guide, and I eagerly look forward to hearing from you.
